Tsubaki no Yu is the other public bath in Dogo Onsen, and the best one. This is where the locals go. Don't expect the amazing building and all the glamour of the Honkan down the street here, just expect a great bath. While the Honkan is beautiful, it is crowded with tourist (myself included) and people who don't always know how to take a bath. Tsubaki has some of those people of course, but the number is far fewer. Inside is a simple large changing room leading to a single very large shallow bath filled with spring water of the same quality as the Honkan. Even when busy there is enough room to spread out and enjoy the amazing, healing water here. Go to the Honkan first, if you haven't before, then come here.
