Nanamatsu Onsen
Nanamatsu Onsen
I had a wonderful time at Nanamatsu. Four young boys, surprised by seeing a foreigner in the baths, flocked to me and began to ask a ton of questions. It might have been annoying to some people, but I enjoyed talking to the boys. I did wish their fathers, who must have been in the baths too, apologized for their behavior or thanked me for being kind to them. At least a simple greeting. Sadly, none of that was forthcoming.
About the baths, there are many various jets in the back. The main normal bath is actually more towards the changing room than the showers. The rotenburo is larger than average for sento of this style with a fair enough few of the sky and a good sized sitting area. Nanamatsu is a good choice for a summer bath while the sun is still out.
The two bathing areas change daily and have different saunas, dry and salt. Men have the dry sauna and women the salt on odd numbered days. Women have the dry sauna and men the salt sauna on even numbered days.
Nanamatsu is a fun local place. If you're looking for a quiet bathing experience maybe this might not be for you. On the other hand, if you want to have a good time and don't mind a bit of noise it's recommended.
