Nagisa no Yu
Nagisa no Yu
Nagisa no Yu has a brownish colored onsen that gives your skin that nice clay feeling. It is not the best example of this type of spring as Takara no Yu in Takarazuka, or Ebisu Onsen in Akashi are much better. The view and other aspects of Nagisa stand out more so than the onsen.
There are two major factors that make a trip to Nagisa worthwhile. First is the great view from the outdoor baths. The rock wall that encloses the outdoor baths has two viewing holes from which you can watch the traffic on the freeway and the harbor. The second is the saunas. On the men's side they are great. The rock sauna does a little light show before nozzles spray water down on the super heated rocks filling the room with steam. The large tower sauna just feels right, and it has some widows that look down at the adjacent park.
The building is done in a modern style. The smoking balcony that's connected to the men's changing room was well thought out. They cover the building with a light show (projected from a big digital projector mounted in the men's rotenburo area) on occasion. I've seen it twice. It looks cool from the freeway also. In the summer there is also an outdoor patio for drinks and food.
I've never had a bad time here, but there isn't much to say about the atmosphere here. It's a good supersento and quite family friendly, but it doesn't have any community feel like smaller sento do. The staff are very helpful and cheerful. My wife and seem to go here a few times a year. There is a museum, shopping center and movie theater near by along with the park that follows the harbor so there are other reasons to come here besides the baths. The park also has a free foot bath.
Inside Nagisa there is a gym also, but it requires a membership.
You have to check out the poor English on the signs throughout the building. It is some of the best, or worse, Engrish ever.
