Ikoi no Yu
Ikoi no Yu
This odd sento is built into the second floor of an apartment building. Overall it is small, but the space does not feel cramped. That said, there are many more washing faucets than bath space here. Ikoi is branded as a Yuasobihiroba (ゆ遊びひろば) sento, and it has the mauve and pink tile found in many of these sento. All the baths were chlorinated but not heavily. The main baths were heated more than the average, which made the somewhat cooler treated bath a good contrast. The cold-water bath was just perfect. Overall this is a great sento that is open all night and a long but walkable distance from Himeji Station. Even though this sento is built into a bigger building, there is some sunlight from skylights, so it does get some natural light during the day. Generally clean. Tattoos OK. This one seemed somewhat surprised about a random gaijin coming in. Himeji is generally weird about random gaijin outside of the tourist spots.
