Up far in the middle of just about nowhere, Nehime no Yu is a very rural supersento. There is a beautiful garden in the outdoor area to look at and because of it's remoteness there's enough darkness for some sky viewing. It’s the best one can expect gets in light pollution heavy Kansai.

My wife still talks about coming here despite the distance. There aren’t many baths, but you come for decent hot spring water and great rural views. It has been in operation since 2001 and the wear and tear of the locals shows. There is some rust where there should not be any. The garden is not as grand as it was that first day. The hot spring is fine, but I cannot praise it any more than that.

I still really enjoyed my trips to Nehime. There is something about the location. Getting there as the is going down and driving back at night makes for a great evening.

This is a car only place as it’s a 15min drive from the nearest stations. If you've got the chance don't pass Nehime up.

On my visit in the summer of 2012 I also noticed that tattoos are allowed at Nehime. Rare for a place like this.
