Kotobuki no Yu

Kotobuki no Yu

This is a revamp and rebuild of the former Kumano no Sato in Sanda. I had not been back to the original and had written it off long ago for having a good spring but not living up to expectations. This remodeling (and new management, I think) has taken the location and spring and done something outstanding with it. The clear, clean feeling spring is instantly noticeable upon getting in. Both men’s and women’s sides are different between 喜 “ki” and 歓 “kan'' baths. I was in the “ki” side which was the former Thai-style bath in Kumano no Sato. They have cleaned it all up so much that the original bath is hard to imagine. The dry sauna is extra hot. Out in the rotenburo area there are some interesting design choices and you can see where a former bath has been covered up by decorations. Interior decorations are outstanding. This is a super sento more geared towards people who would take the entire day in the Korean stone baths or lounging around reading books in the library and not just bathing. Happy to see this location reborn and the spring accessible again. We will definitely return.
