Waka no Yu

Waka no Yu

Living history that you can use just as it was when it was built. Waka no Yu is a registered tangible cultural property because when it was built in 1901 this was a rare European, mostly Greek, style building. Inside you can see how some of the remodeling has occurred as the window in the bath is now half concealed by the building. Interesting photos and history pasted on the walls make bathing here like visiting a museum. Make sure to read the lovely statement about leaving your worries and problems behind in the water posted on the door to the baths. Speaking of the water, it is brought up from a local well and just lovely. Baths are a shallow and deep with a single jet. Both could fit about two people each. My favorite find was the hand painted Shell Oil 貝印! advertisement on the mirror in the changing room. Cool t-shirts, towels, and postcards for sale. Highly recommended.
