Entering the sento it seems very dark so much that I almost thought it was closed as I walked up to it. Coming into the changing room there are no decorations or anything. Typically a sento will have a poster or something showing the local kids soccer league or a festival, but this sento had nothing. It was very stark. After on the front door there was also a sign saying, apologetically, to the customers that the sauna was broken and there was no chance of it being fixed. In the changing room there is a stairway right in front of the sliding glass door to the bath. Typically those stairs will lead up to a sauna on the second floor, but when I went inside the back wall had a glass door and a glass window and it was pitch black behind it. I figured that must have been the closed off sauna until I saw somebody going in and out of there. Sitting down to wash off was noticed how equally stark the the bathing area was. No special tile work in particular, no plants, absolutely nothing. It was interesting, however, that the cold water bath was placed near the entrance. After washing off I went to explore the that black window along the back wall and quickly had a big surprise. Behind the wall on one half was a fish tank filled with koi! Quite big suckers too! Next, behind the door was a small enjoyable outdoor bath with a bubbler in it. Now all the lights outside were turned off so it was quite dark on the outside, but that added ambience. So my initial feelings were right. The second floor was the now closed sauna and that would explain why the cold water bath was near the front. So, this is one of the three sento I know in Kansai that has a fish tank in it. Oddly, the fish tank here is next to the electric bath so it is kind of hard to sit in there and watch them for a long time. Recommended if you are in the area. The nearby Daiso is huge.
