Yume no Kōshū Yokujyō Goshiki
Yume no Kōshū Yokujyō Goshiki
Some sento typify the evolution and development of the private, for-profit supersento from the more public-minded sento. For example, the name itself also includes the phrase 公衆浴場, meaning public bathhouse. Still, the size and variety of the baths make this place almost a super-sento. Open 24 hours, this bathhouse is in a hard-working, car commuting part of Osaka. Anyone who's driven on the highway to Itami Airport has seen the huge retro sign of this sento. My partner and I can only assume that this place is popular with truck drivers. However, when we were there in the late afternoon, many families had young children. Given the price and quality of the bath, Goshiki offers a great value for the cost.
All the baths are on the second floor with the changing rooms on the first floor. After getting out of your clothing, you must climb a set of stairs to enter the baths. Make sure to check out the foot-washing faucet! That was unique. Also, I do not think there is a way to get to the second floor without using the stairs.
You will immediately be greeted by some lovely tiles that incorporate texture and relief into their design on the second floor. This sento has some unique tiles that are a part of Japanese architectural heritage and worth checking out. Speaking to the baths, you will find a full selection. The outdoor section and the ancient cedar-lined carbonated bath are worth enjoying. I also found the steam sauna and cold water to my personal liking.
In the foyer, make sure to notice the fountain and fish tunnel! And that noren! I've never seen one that big before.
Ample parking available.
Highly recommended.
