Located next to the amazing Tsubo-yu is the public bath at Yu no Mine Onsen. In the little village here each of the ryokan have their own baths that their guests can use, the public bath allows people just passing through to enjoy the amazing water here even if there is a long line for Tsubo-yu. If you can do Tsubo-yu do it, its in a class of its own and although the water is the same its so much better in Tsubo-yu. The public bath is nothing to look down on. A single wooden tub in a small wooden room but it is just amazing. The sulfur smell hits you as soon as you open that door. There is another bath called Kusuri-Yu that is a bit cleaner and bigger with a more modern feel. Kusuri-yu is available to rent out as a private family bath. I have not tried that bath yet. The rest area above the public bath is available for anyone to use for ¥500 an hour if you need a place to stretch out indoors after your bath.
