Outdoor and indoor springs along a river well into the mountains between Christchurch and the West Coast. There is a Japanese influenced indoor pool with showers to wash off in. I was quite happy to see the common Japanese style bathing set up when here. The springs do attract biting flies so some repellent is recommended. It is a long drive from Christchurch with not much in terms of gasoline stations or food options along the way. Winter driving can be hazardous and roads can close quickly so be prepared. I hope to return here sometime in the future as it looks like the facilities have been repaired since my visit in 2014.
